REQ help on unusual floppy disk problem

Y

young

Really weird. If I try to boot up with a W98 start up floppy disk in
the floppy drive, the boot hangs just after the start and stays there
forever. The floppy disk is okay- I have used it before.

If I remove the disk and reboot the machine, it boots up just fine to
the HD of course.

Any ideas?

Thank you

Try making another Win 98 boot disk. It sounds like the one you have
is corrupted. I assume it is a boot disk that you mean when you say
"Start up floppy?"

The drive itself could be bad...or possibly set incorrectly in the bios

Any autoexec.bat or config.sys on the boot floppy?

Is the boot floppy current?...or have you added or removed hardware
lately?...or upgraded things lately...and forgot to upgrade the boot
disk.

Wishing you and yours a happy holiday season...
