REPOST: "the field is too small to accept ....." error message

Hello,
I posted about this problem about a week ago, but
have not seen a solution, so I'm trying again. This
refers to a bound text box; the field to which it is
bound, is a TEXT 9. The text box on the form has no
trouble containing the full 9 digits when a record is
being displayed.
However, if you try to edit the data in this text
box, and are careful to enter only 9 digits, you get this
message: "The field is too small to accept the amount of
data you attempted to add. Try inserting or pasting less
data". I tried a variation of testing the amount of
characters I was typing (suggested by a poster last
week), and I was only trying to enter 9 digits, as the
message box showed.
One update is that it's not a platform issue; I got
this on Access97 and Access2000 systems (both the
frontend and backend of this split database are Access97).
Please advise, thanks. F. Barth

This isn't a Lookup field perchance?

John,
No, it's not a lookup field. It's a regular text
field. It's intended to hold unique values of 9 digits.
It's just so strange that it will display a 9-digit
value, and report back to me (when I was testing) that I
have entered 9 digits, but then tell me I'm trying to
insert too much data. F. Barth

Try deleting the textbox completely from the form; compact; and then
recreate the textbox. If that doesn't work, delete the *form*,
compact, and recreate the form. It sounds like something's corrupted!
