I asked this question a couple of weeks ago. Perhaps no one knew the answer
or perhaps it was missed or perhaps it was uninteresting :) At the risk of
beating a dead horse, I'll try it again.

Thanks,
Chet(have not put the SP2 patch on).

Thanks to Hal, the MVP, I got my fax console working again so that I could
see the faxes. I did this by changing my file associations so that tif
files would be opened by "Microsoft Office Document Imaging." I would like
to associate faxes, which I thought were "tiff" files with this program
but associate "tif" files which I have for a lot of photos, with another
graphics viewer. However, it seems all my incoming faxes are "tif" and not
"tiff"

Aren't incoming faxes "tiff" ? If they aren't, could I set my fax program
to convert them to "tiff" as they are being received or is there some other
way I could set the associations such that a fax tif and a photo tif could
be opened by different programs?

Thanks.

Chet

I have not encountered any problems with either TIF or TIFF files, but
I do not FAX very often, rather attach to an email for downloading at my
or recipients convenience. The below app has multi-page TIF/TIFF
support. You may want to take a look at it.
IrfanView - one of the most popular viewers worldwide

Byte,
Thanks for the reply. I use Irfanview all the time. It will handle tif or
tiff files. What I want to do is have irfanview handle photo files (tif)
and have the fax viewer program handle faxes, which I thought were tiff
files. However, I may be misinformed about faxes, they seem to be coming in
as tif and not tiff. I was checking to see if anyone could clarify this
and/or tell me how to associate photo tif's with irfanview and fax tif's
with the fax viewing program.
Thanks
Chet
