reporting services

M

mate

Can I use reporting services with visual studio express 2005 and sql server
express 2005 or I need VS profesional and SQL server 2005 standard edition?
How can I install reporting services, on which url to download?

Unfortunately, Experss 2005 does not have Reporting features. You can add a
third party reporting on your solution (like Active Reports .NET or Crystal
(although the free bits in VS are rather weak)).

You can move up to a paid SKU of SLQ Server 2005 and get Reporting. The
matrix (what is available at different levels) is here:

Ah, no. SQL Server Express Advanced Services Edition is a full-featured
(albeit not complete) implementation of Reporting Services. It's available
(or was) for the 2005 version of SQL Server (where it was introduced) and
for SQL Server 2008.

I do not have RS with this Advanced Express, but I just checked and I don't
have IIS, so that might explain it. I am too used to installing IIS as a
first ditch effort on my machines.

Ah, theoretically you don't need IIS for SQL Server 2008 instances, but I
enable it anyway. For older versions, yes, it's a requirement.
