Hi; I have a report/subreport that has suddenly run into a problem loading,
that did not previously exist. When I try to load the report in print preview
format, I'm getting an errmsg of "you must define a sort field or expression
for the group header or footer in the report you triewd to preview or paint".
If I try to print the report, NOTHING HAPPENS.

The problem is that there is no page or report header/footer on the report!
What else could this errmsg refer to?

Are you able to preview other reports?

- Yes: Open the report in design view.
Open the Sorting And Grouping dialog (View menu.)
Each row in the dialog where you have a field name needs Ascending or
Descending beside it.

- No: Do you have a valid printer installed?
Access uses the printer metrics to calculate the layout of the report, so it
cannot figure it out if there printer, or if there is a problem with the
printer driver.

Post a reply if that does not solve it.

allen; thanks for suggestion. Somehow a gremlin invaded my pc and added a
'sorting' item without a sort field entered. problem solved. Richard
