Report is slow to load

I created a report for a query that uses two tables and another query to
relate the two tables. The main query prompts for a supervisor name and the
report gives a formatted absence report for each employee on that team. Afer
clicking on the report name it takes 15-20 seconds for the prompt to appear,
which seems like a long time. After that the report comes up in a fairly
short time. A similar report for an individual employee uses only one of the
tables and the employee ID prompt appears much quicker. Why would one prompt
be much quicker and what could be done to make the other one start quicker?
Is there such a thing as compiling a report?

post the SQL for the query that the query is based on. If that query is
based on others, post the SQL for those too. (Open query in design view,
click SQL button, then copy and paste it here.) Sounds like you're using
some goofy SQL or you're not indexing properly. But it's hard to tell from
the info you've provided.
Actually, when I ran the report today it opened up much faster than
yesterday, when I created it. Perhaps there is something with a multi-user
database that it needs to be shut down (which happened overnight) and
re-opened for newly created things to work optimally. Does that sound
familiar?
