Repopulate events in calendar

I understand that if you add dates (b'days/anniversaries) to a contact, they
will automatically populate in your calendar. However, I accidentally
deleted some of the calendar events and now want to "repopulate" them from
Contacts. I have tried editing and resaving the dates in contacts, but that
did not put them back onto my calendar.

Does anyone know how to force Contacts to re-add the dates to the Calendar?
