I received a mail in Outlook 2003 and decided to reply to
the sender. While I was typing my reply, I saw a line
appearing on top of the original mail in Outlook
saying "you replied to this message on date /time bla
bla..." however I did not sent the reply yet...! so I
cancelled my reply mail, did not said yes to "do you want
to save your mail " and the top line saying a replied was
still there !! even when u close and open outlook again,
it's still there ! this can lead to big problems for
somebody reading this mail after some time, causing him
to believe he responded to the mail but it's not true.

Bug ?

hi again,

i did some other tests and confirm that this always
happen, but u have to wait about 1 min or two before some
timing triggers the display of the top line.

This "problem" has been a "feature" since I can remember. I test Outlook
for integration with other products. It has been a core bug since at least
Outlook 2000. We have never been able to convince our Microsoft team that
it needs to be fixed. Bottom line is that it is a bug and users cannot
trust this information. I think most people would be suprised how many
times they start to reply or forward a message and then change their mind
and decide to do it later. When they go back to the message some time in
the future they are told that they already sent a reply or forward.

/R Dan
