replacing with a tick

Hi, I have exported data fom access, in which some of the field contain
checkboxes. These appear as true and false in excel. Rather than manually
changing them indivdually to ticks and crosses, from the symbol menu, how can
I use the find and replace function to do this. I can't get the find and
replace function to recognise a "tick" as it just comes out as "P".

If you start with column A with something like this in it:

TRUE
FALSE
FALSE
TRUE
FALSE

Then do this:
1 replace "TRUE" with ü (you can copy that character out of here)
2 replace "FALSE" with û (ditto)
3 select column A and change the font to Wingdings

Thanks that's great.

May I also express my admiration for a very ingenious solution
even if I have no need or prospect for using it!
I'd like to add that I have found that having the character map
available as part of my Office Shortcut bar is very useful for
this sort of thing.

I don't know if you really wanted to know :) But just in case,
I've gone from having to use the A/C after midnight three weeks
ago to switching on the house heating last week!

Sure I did. Crazy weather we are all having. I have also just switched my
central heating on here in Belgium
