Replacing Win2k Server

J

Joe Murphy

I have a single win2k server that is a Domain Controller
with Active Directory. I need to replace this with a new
server. What is the best way to do this?

Thanks

Hi Joe,

Bring up a second server and run DCPROMO on it to make it a DC.

Give it time to replicate everything, run DCDIAG and NETDIAG on both DC's to
make sure you have healthy DCs.

Grab all five FSMO operations masters from the first DC and give those roles
to the second DC.

DCPromo the first DC so it is no longer a DC.
