Replacing the boot drive

Anyone had experience of migrating everything from one HDD to another? I want
to replace my 3 yr old SCSI 147Gb with a 300Gb new one mainly to give me
enough room to even run defrag! But, as you can assume from the amount on it,
I would simply like to copy everything over in a way that enables me to
effectively swap the small for the large drive.

Check out Acronis TrueImage Home at www.acronis.com - you can create an
image backup & restore it. I love this product & use Acronis stuff all over
the place with great success (I have no affiliation with the company, btw).

Have a look at the free disk cloning utility at the drive manufacturer's
home site.

Almost all drive manufacturers supply a disk cloning program to do
this. It either ships with the drive, or you can download it from the
manufacturer's web site.

You may be interested to know their support desk emailed me to say they do
not supply or recommend any cloning software and suggest I use a search
engine. From a firm like Fujitsu this was very disappointing.

Ken,
Thanks but as I've replied to Pegasus, I emailed Fujitsu for this very
reason. They responded as per my response to Pegasus.
Thanks anyway - I also thought this would be easy from the manufacturer.

Maxtor, Western Digital and Seagate give you the software to do this.

Just clone the old drive and then swap.

Thanks for the information. Interesting--I didn't know that about
Fujitsu. They are unusual in this regard.

Fortunately, there's lots of other disk cloning software around.
Google for it.

Then follow their advice.

Google is your friend.

I searched their site before contacting technical support. It was in response
to this request that they told me they don't recommend any and suggested I
search the web.
If you know either the name of the software or the URL please tell me so I
can locate it.
I assume you KNOW Fujitsu have such software available on THEIR site - I
know most drive vendors do and have used them before but I am amazed by the
response from Fujitsu
