Replacing indented style with tabs

I'm trying to replace an indented style with tabs in order to convert text to table. The text I have is a very long index and it's indented so it won't let me convert to a 2 column table. I have tried to find and replace styles with a tabs style, but it doesn't work. Any ideas out there?
