Replace characters in data

Does anyone know of a function that can replace a
character based on one specified.

Eg
I some dates that have been delimited by .
21.11.03

Can I run an udapte to change . to /
21/11/03

Can you say "Undefined Function REPLACE" in MsAccess 2000 and earlier?

Any other solutions?
