I came home to find my computer screen had garbage on it
and there was no response to the keyboard or mouse. I had
to hard boot.

Now the computer is in an endless cycle of scandisk (only
to find no problems) and reboot. It won't stop.

HELP!

Thanks,
Bob

Is there a Stop Error code? You can troubleshoot it here:

Otherwise, you haven't provided enough information for anyone to give
you a specific answer. The easiest thing for you to do might be to take
the machine to a good local repair shop and have them fix it for you.
Otherwise, repost with a lot more information; i.e., your system specs
including OEM name if applicable, what changed between the time things
worked and the time they didn't, and anything else that will help
people who can't see your computer to assist you.

The system was working fine when my wife left for work.
When I came home, that is what I found.

I am running Windows XP Home on an AMD Athlon based PC. I
removed the hard drive and put it in another computer and
it had the same reaction. I then made it a secondary
drive, ran scandisk and defragged the drive.

The data on the disk seemed fine, but when it was made to
be the master again, it began the scandisk-reboot cycle
again.

First run a disk diagnostic from the drive mftr. to be sure the hardware
is good. Normally you will make a bootable floppy and boot with it. Do
a thorough test and if you get any failures, replace the drive. If the
drive is good, you might try a Repair Install. Here's a link with
information about that:
