repair process fails with initpki.dll

Hi all,

I'm currantly trying to do a repair install on win xp home, it gets to the
point where it says 39 minutes remaining but seems to do nothing for about 10
minutes. after a while the setup fails and the logfile shows that it had
trouble registering initpki.dll ole. Now of course as i've started the repair
process safe mode etc will not work but only restart the setup process. I
have tried moving the catroot2 folder but that did not help either. A format
and reinstall isnt really in order for this machine. Does anyone know what to
do to clear this error and complete the setup.

Kind Regards
Dale

Hey Dale,

You can try ...

How to recover from a corrupted registry that prevents Windows XP from
starting

However, this may not guarantee that everything will be working 100% after
the system reboots. But it should allow you to get to the desktop again.

Also an in-place upgrade would be another alternative you may need to do.
