Bud

Everytime my computer reboots I have to go in to network
connections a repair the realtek 8139/810x Connection.
Have updated driver no help any suggestions what to try
next. Am considering upgrade xp files with xp disc as an
option but will lose all windows updates if I do this. Is
there an easier way to check windows to make sure all
files and registery is ok. Thanks

open the cmd window [start/run "cmd"] and run "sfc /scannow"
without quotes. To see help on system file check type "sfc
/?"

You know, lots of people have had trouble with that NIC. It's a very
common NIC chipset, but some of the cheapest cards are just plain
lousy. I had a Realtek 8139 in my WinXP box and it kept freezing up
while doing network transfers, etc. I replaced it with a DLink card I
had lying around (also based on the Realtek 8139 chipset and cheap,
under $20usd iirc) and things have worked beautifully ever since.
