Repair and Compact

In Access 97 repair and compact were two separate
processes, but in 2002 they are combined in one. The
question is can I repair and compact in 2002 in two
separate steps. I know it is a must to compact after a
repair, but I would like the option of doing each
sparately.

You can't split the two anymore. There is a situation where
repairing a slightly corrupted database before compacting can corrupt
it beyond repair thus MS chose to put this in step.

You could try the JetComp utility. For more info on it including
links to download it see the Corruptions FAQ page at my website.
