Renaming Tables

Hi All,

While the ability for queries and such to follow renamed tables can be a
huge advantage there are times when it gets in the way of things we are
trying to do.

Is there any way to turn it off please??

Uncheck the boxes under:
Tools | Options | General | Name AutoCorrect
Then compact the database:
Tools | Database Utilities | Compact/Repair

Your comment is an understatement.
The feature should b called Name AutoCorrupt:

Is the compact repair an essential part of the process or just good
practice??

I don't trust Access to have fully released the garbage associated with Name
AutoCorrupt until the compact/repair completes, but I can't give you any
hard evidence for that.
