Renaming System Files

I would like to rename the [user] directory in C:\Documents and
Settings\[user]. It currently is set as C:\Documents and
Settings\Douglas, but my name is not Douglas. I tried renaming it but
was unable to do so, I understand that this has to be done with a
registry edit, but have been unable to find the information on the web.
Thanks in advance.

Instead of renaming it just treat it like it's a corrupted profile. Make a
new account with the name you want and then copy the content from the old
profile over to the new one and let it run for a couple of days. If all is
well you can delete the old profile easily enough.
