Renaming "My Documents"

I have all my data files in folders inside a folder called "DATA" which is
located in a partition which is separate from the XP Home system partition.

Because so many things default to "My Documents" can I do the following:

1. Rename the "My Documents" folder to "Data"
2. Move all my present data files to this new Data folder and move
everything back to the separate partition replacing the old Data partition

A. If I did this, would all the things that default to "My Documents" now
default to the new Data even though it is in a separate partition?

B. Is there a simpler way to achieve the same goal: make all the things that
default to "My Documents" now default to "F:\data" ?

Thanks.

You need to change the location of hte My Documents folder
from the Registry.
HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Use
rShellFolders
