Renaming multiple files - sequential numbering - HELP

I have an instance where I'm scanning in hundereds of photos for a database.
The scanning software I have names the files, but leaves a space in the
numbering system. Point being - I have to go back and redo each file name.
Is there a way I can rename mulitple files using a number system?

My system is Box #/Photo Folder #/File #

Example, for box 7, album 2, file 11, I would name it 007.2.011

If I can rename multiple files, it will save me many hours...

Thanks,

Jackie T

It is possible to do this sort of thing but you need to provide
more information. How does your term "box 7, album 2, file 11"
translate into a Windows path + file name? Is it

"c:\documents and settings\Jackie\My Pictures\Box 7\Album 2\File 11.jpg"?

When replying, make sure to be spot on and to pay attention
to embedded spaces. "Box 7" is not the same as "Box7"!

Thanks for the reply. Here is exactly what I have going on.

Files are located in:

C:\Batches6C\Ranch Box5Book1\005.1.015.jpg

The space is there between "Ranch" and "Box"

I've download a freeware program that helps out with the renaming. The main
thing I'm having a problem with now is inserting hyperlinks in Excel linking
to them. If I could do those all at one time, I would be set. Does anyone
have any idea how that works? I've also posted in the Excel forum.

Thanks for the help
