Renaming folders - error message

I have a question regarding renaming folders either in word or in (what I
still call) explorer.

I have been getting an "Error Renaming File or Folder" message for some time
now even tho' all word files and the application is closed. I need to
restart my computer in order to allow this type of change. This has been
happening now for a couple of months - it never used to happen before. Even
if I check the read/write properties, etc., I cannot seem to make a change
unless I restart.

Is there perhaps an easy step I am missing?

Are you using Word as the email editor for Outlook? If so, an instance of
Word remains open as long as Outlook is open, and this may be locking some
files/folders.
