How do you go about changing a computers registered name. Not the network
name. I bought a used computer from my sisters job everything comes out
Freds TV I would like to take it off. I changed it in the control
panel/system now it comes out Freds TV/judy henderson

TIA

Second hand computer?
You format it - because you have no idea how it was used previously - what
was left on it - etc.
Format - start clean.

Name changing can be done anytime to whatever you want, generally the
new name won't show until you restart.

With second-hand computers, especially if acquired from strangers
but perhaps even if acquired from a family member or friend, your wisest
course of action would probably be to format the hard drives and start
fresh. You don't want to get in trouble because the original owner may
have filled the hard drive with kiddie porn, or have problems because
the original owner downloaded/installed viruses or other malware.

But, to change the *computer* name, login with an administrative
account, right-click My Computer > Properties > Computer Name > Change.
You may also have to edit or delete anything in the Computer
Description field.
