renamed attachments

Hello

I imported emails from to WM from Outlook 2007 on vista. The problem is that
WM has renamed all email attachments to old 8.3 form (plus converting all
embeded JPG pictures to attachment). What can I do to have the attchments
untoched after import.
 
You might try File | Export | Messages in WinMail rather then importing from
Outlook. That might yield a better result.

Well then try File | Import | Messages from WinMail.

This is exactly what I did but the problem is shortening of attched file names.

is it possible? I was under the impression that Outlook only exports to a
file, like PST. How can I export to Win Mail directly?
 
I don't have Outlook installed conveniently here, so I don't know. It won't
hurt to try and see.
