Rename Slides

If you're talking about the "Slide x" name given to a slide when linking
slides, YES! Click "Format", "Slide Layout", select the "Title Only" layout
(should be the top right one). In the placekeeper, type the name of the
slide you want. When done, click the bottom of the placekeeper and drag it
off the top of the slide. This way the slide will have a "Title" assigned
to it, but it won't show in Slide Show mode.

Do you mean what appears in the Outline Pane? If you use placeholders, the text
in the Slide Title placeholder is the name of the slide in the Outline Pane. If
you mean something else, could you clarify?

Hi Bfried,

The answer is yes, but I don't think that is what you want.

Every slide is given a name and has a slide number. You can change the
name, and you can change the number. Changing the number will probably
change the slides position in the presentation, unless you change them all.
Changing the name doesn't affect anything.

The problem is that the name is not used in anything I know about, except in
VBA. You can not easily reference it and I assume you want to quickly
reference a slide in order to jump to it, correct? You want names to work
like "14 <Enter>" takes you to slide 14.

There is good news. You can use the slide's Title like a label or bookmark
to describe the slides and allow you to jump around within any presentation.
During an active presentation, just right click and select 'Jump to'. The
slide's number and slide's title are displayed and just a simple click will
jump you there. If you want the slide to be called something, but don't
want that to be displayed on the screen, then just fill the Title
Placeholder (the box that says 'Click to add title') with what you what to
call the slide and move the Placeholder off the slide. Oh, a word of
caution -- don't use commas in the title, it could cause the title not to
display in the 'Jump To' list.

Is this the functionality you were looking for, or did I guess completely
wrong (in which case you'll need to fill in some details about what you
want)? I would request that you spend a few more moments writing your
question because those few words you type are all we have to go on. We
can't see your screen and don't know what you are trying to do without your
explanations. Thanks.

OK, I sort of have found the answer to my question, but its a little
complicated.
I set up a power point auto loop show, I have to find out how long the show
ran and or how many loops the show ran in a given time. I downloaded VBA
add-in for counting slides visits. It works pretty good it gives me a print
out for example that slide 1 ran 10 times slide 2 10 times ect. But I wanted
a name for each slide instead slide 1 or slide 2.
So I downloaded Shyam's toolbox and under shapes I renamed each slide, It
works but is there another way?
