RENAME Problems

Suddenly my keyboard & display are interacting in a very
different and frustrating manner whenever I RENAME a file
on my desktop. When typing in the new name, I only see
one letter at any given time, until I hit ENTER and the
entire new name is finally shown to me. Previously I
would see the entire string of the new name, as typed to
the point in time. Now I only see the last letter typed,
until finally I hit Enter. How do I restore my old
familiar behavior pattern?

That's strange. How you done a full malware scan?

I just ran the LavaSoft package, rebooted, and problem
remains. Guess I should run full virus scan, too, just
to eliminate that possibility.

Still looking for other suggestions, though.

Malware: Viruses, Worms, Trojans, Spyware, Adware, Scumware, Jokeware, etc.
aka malicious code, junk, garbage. Stuff you never wanted and do not need.
Often, "malware" refers only to the "junk" that standard antivirus programs
do not look for.

PS: Be sure to run both Spybot and AdAware.

OK. I've now run SpyBot, AdAware, and anti-virus
software. And rebooted. And RENAME is still behaving
oddly. I'm stumped.

Any other suggestions?
