Rename item on Task Bar

How do I change the description of an item displayed on the Task Bar
to match that item's name shown on the Desktop?
 
For example, when I'm using "Excel", the shortcut (on the DESKTOP) is
labeled "EXCEL 2000" but, on the TASKBAR, "MICROSOFT EXCEL" is
displayed. I want the Taskbar to display "EXCEL 2000". How can I
change the Taskbar label?
