I have a local user "user1" on an xp pro machine. Also this user is on a
2000 server. If I go in the xp pro machine and change the user name and
password from "user1" to "user2" on the xp pro machine will he still be able
to accress the network resources from the 2000 Server or will I need to
create new user or copy that "user1" profile on the in 2000 server machine
to a new "user2" profile on the Win 2000 Server?

You'll need to rename the W2k user & reset its password to match whatever
you're doing on the XP box, if you don't use AD & domain accounts.
