Removing Windows 98?

I have just installed XP onto a PC that previously had 98 on it.
I initially used the 98 boot disk to format my C drive 'thinking' that this
would make it 'clean' before putting on XP.
I have successfully installed XP, however, whenever I switch on the PC i am
given the option of opening XP or 98 ( and if I do I opt for 98 it simply
goes to a black screen with 'c:/' as it has been formatted!).
I want to completely remove 98, and just have XP as the only operating
system, how do I do this?
Any help greatly appreciated, thanks!

1st you need to check to make sure that XP is actually installed on the C
drive.
If it is you will need to edit the "Boot.ini" file to remove the reference
to 98...this file is in the root of the C drive and opens with notepad.
