Removing the red editing

Hi

I use MS Word 2002 under Vista.

I recently password protected a document.

When I make changes to this document they are made in red and show
editing bubbles.

How can I remove all these editing notes?

Do they only occur with password protected documents?

You must have edit checking switched on (it goes by various names in different
programs including different versions of Word -- revision marking, track
changes and probably several more). Find what it's called in your version, and
switch it off.

Display the Reviewing toolbar. Click Track Changes to turn it off (or use
Ctrl+Shift+E). Then click on Accept Change and select Accept All Changes in
Document on the dropdown menu. If there are comments in the document, use
the Reject Change/Delete Comment menu to "Delete All Comments in Document."

In Word 2002, I seem to have a box that has the following options:

Final showing markup
Final
Original showing markup
Original

Is this the correct box?

It appears that Word documents not only keep the final draft, but the
previous edits.

Those are just views (different ways of looking at the same document). When
you view the document in Final view, you will see it as it would be if all
changes were accepted and comments deleted, but this doesn't actually happen
until you use the commands described.

To the right of the Display for Review dropdown is a row of buttons. The one
with a check mark is the Accept Change button. Click the arrow next to it to
open the menu on which you will find Accept All Changes in Document. The one
next to it with an X is the Reject Change/Delete Comment, also with a
dropdown menu.

Another one of the buttons is the Track Changes button, which should be
turned off. Or, as previously mentioned, you can use the keyboard shortcut
Ctrl+Shift+E, or you can double-click TRK on the status bar.

Control Shift E appears to have no efffect.
When I click on TRK on the status bar, again it has no effect

Turning Track Changes on/off will not have any visible effect (except for
changing the appearance of TRK in the status bar) until you start editing
the document, at which point you will see the markup. To remove existing
markup, you have to accept changes as previously described. The point of
turning Track Changes off is to prevent further markup.

When you double-click TRK on the status bar, it doesn't change from dim to
black or vice versa? In Word 2003, turning on Track Changes also causes the
Reviewing toolbar to display.
