Removing Spaces

I have 2 columns of telephone numbers, some with 1 space, some with 2
spaces.
I want to remove all spaces, in both columns, so that I can then compare
col.A with col.B.

I have tried the 'Replace' icon but did not work.
I have tried 'TRIM' but did not work.

Now I can only think of going to 'Text to Columns', Delimiter by 'space',
and then concatenating.

Does anybody have any further ideas?

I finally replaced all spaces with an ! and then replaced the ! with
null.
This did also remove all the leading zeros, which in this circumstance did
not matter to me.

Would like to hear of any other solutions the group can offer.

Thanks to all,

Choosing Edit/Replace, entering a space in the Find: box and nothing in
the Replace box removed all spaces for me...
