How can I remove some of the shortcuts embedded on the right hand side of
the task bar. I have removed Windows Messenger from my computer but the icon
remains on the task bar.

Thanks in advance

Paul, try going into Start-Run, type in "msconfig"
Click "OK" When the next window appears, goto
the "startup" tab. Look for the programs that you do not
want to start when you turn on your computer. Some files
get left behind on an un-install and it trys to start and
send the icon to the desktop. Make sure you only click on
the programs you don't want to start.

Thanks for the reply and the advice.

I want to remove Instant Messenger and it looks like there may be two
programs than could be removed from the Start menu INSTAN~1 and msmsgs.
Would I be safe in unchecking both.
