I was told to do the following to remove records of
recently accessed documents:
Run: gpedit.msc> Administrative templates> Start Menu and
Taskbar> clear history of recently opened documents.
When I attempted to do this, I get the following error
message--Windows could not find gpedit.msc
Shouldn't this file/utility have been part of my XP load?
Is ther anyother way to remove these records?
Thanks

Hi!John!
you must be running XP Home version, where gpedit.msc is not applicable.
Moreover to clear recently accessed docs. do the following:-
Start > Right Click on the top/bottom blank area of the menu >
properties > start menu > customize > advanced > uncheck "List my most
recently opened documents". > ok
see:-Display, Use, and Clear "My Recent Documents" on the Start Menu
in Windows XP

It is not part of XP Home. Doug Knox has just brought out a utility
that will provide most of what you need in a convenient package:
See http://www.dougknox.com/xp/utils/xp_securityconsole.htm for more
information and the download.
