Removing PST file from Folder list, get error message

J

Jan

I'm trying to close a PST file by right-clicking on it
and choosing "close". It doesn't work. The error
message is: "The operation failed. An object could not
be found".

This is only the case for this specific .PST. I can
still open and close all my other .PST files.

The name of this .PST file is "Personal Folders". Yes,
the same as the one I use as my default .PST. Could that
be the problem?

I've used the "scanpst.exe" tool from Microsoft. It
didn't help. I was using the automatic .PST backup tool
from Microsoft at the time this happened. Maybe that is
an issue?

Any help is appreciated.

This has been covered several times in the group.

Go to the control panel - mail settings. Create a new mail profile.

Then you should be able to delete the old not working .psf.

Make sure you export each of your folders or do a back up in case your data
disappears.

Thanks Peter.
The problem is that I have no profile settings under Mail
in the Control Panel. All that is there is the .iaf
files, the Internet Account Files. I.e. the POP3
accounts that I use in my profile.

The only way that I can see to change the profile is to
add a new one from within Outlook, move the current .PST
files from the current location and choose the new .PST
file as default when I restart Outlook.

Is this correct?
