removing manual paragraph marks

When I copy an article from the web into a Word .doc, sometimes each line of
the text has a manual line return, or paragraph mark. How do I remove these
so that the text will word-wrap and flow properly? I tried to Replace... but
had no success. Frequently there is a space after a word, then the return.

You should be able to remove these with Replace. Click on More in the dialog
box and select from the Special list. You can replace it with nothing or a
space (on the spacebar). If you get 2 spaces in many places, you can use the
Replace again to replace one space with 2. Hope this helps.

Sorry, Rae, I had tried all kinds of things with Replace, but in some cases,
they did not work. I appreciate your reply.

I'll pass your thanks on to those who wrote it - I just pointed you there :)

I have the same issue, although my document is not from a website but one
typed by someone else. I read the article about cleaning up text pasted from
the web. Under "Using AutoFormat," first sentence, it says "No matter what
other options you have enabled on the AutoFormat tab of Tools/AutoCorrect,
when you select a block of text with a paragraph break at the end of each
full line, AutoFormat will delete all the paragraph breaks but the last."
That's not working for me and I can't tell which box(es) to check or uncheck
to make this happen.

So don't try to use AutoFormat; move on to the other options.

For Word 2007m try this:

Open replace and in find ^p^p and replace it with PARAGRAPH.
Open replace and in find ^p and replace it with a space.
Open replace and in find PARAGRAPH and replace it ^p^p.
