Today a Microsoft tech support person tried to fix a problem I was having
with IE7 on my WinXP SP3 notebook. He ended up having me disable just about
everything in msconfig, and later he had me check the "normal" startup box
there. Some of the system tray icons I had removed a month ago then
returned. I've been able to get rid of everything but the Google search box.
I unchecked Google Desktop in msconfig Startup, but it's still in the system
tray. Is there a way I can remove it?

Thank you!

Is "Google Desktop" seen in Control Panel, Add/Remove programs? (I don't
have it so I don't know, but you might check there).

Uninstall it from Control Panel>Add and Remove Programs.
You will find it there.

Thank you, Bill and Mick! It was indeed called "Google Desktop" in
Add/Remove Programs, and removing it got rid of the junk in the system tray.

All's well, that ends well.
Cheers.

Grin. Reminds me of when MS was partners with AOL. I dont believe MS
will be partners with Google for too much longer.

I keep hoping that Yahoo partners will stop partnering too. I use
WordPerfect, and you can't get rid of the Yahoo search bar within WP. You
have to go through an uninstall procedure in Add/Remove Programs to do it.
(It snuck by me during the installation of WP or I would have stopped it
then.)
