Removing Browsers from preview list

Guest

I want to remove the "default" browser (and it's various size iterations)
from my browser list in the file>preview in browser, and replace it with the
actual name of my default browser. I've had no problems adding browsers to
the list, but the "modify" and "remove" options are greyed out no matter what
I select/check/uncheck, etc.

I have four different broswers in the list, so it can't have anything to do
with deleting down to too few browsers or something like that.

Any help?

Thanks,
DB

All you need do is just add *your* browser to the list. It is easy enough.

File > Preview in Browser > Edit Browser List.

Then add your browser.

You have to have at least *two* browsers to delete/remove them. You can't
remove say, IE then put your preferred one in; add your preferred browser
then delete the IE one.

Thanks for the reply.

Guess I wasn't very clear. I have FOUR distinct browsers in the list
already. Unless FP2003 requires that you ALWAYS have FOUR distinct browsers
in the list, I should be able to remove any of them (leaving three) without
any problem.

I thought maybe it's just the way things are, in that you can't remove the
"default" browser. Maybe it is that way, but it won't let me remove ANY of
them.

Thanks again,
DB

Try altering features on the Authoring Tab under Page Options ... Try
customise for starters .. not 100% which setting it is .. but usually there
is something in there that greys out features in other menus. You can't
remove the default but you should be able to remove one's you have added.
Let us know if this makes any difference.

Try uninstalling the browsers you don't want - if they're not on the system,
they won't show in the list (?)

Thanks for the reply, Tina.

I messed around with the settings under tools>page options>authoring, but
nothing seemed to help. I had already realized that I CAN remove/modify the
browsers I've recently added (FF,Opera), but not the other three listed:
default (ff), internet explorer, netscape navigator.

Hope I got those settings back to where they were...

Thanks for help. Nice to know a possible place to look if options are
greyed out.

I have ie by default and FF ... my FF when selected allows the Remove button
to ungrey..

Lightbulb!

.. you are selecting it by clicking it? .. Just unticking the radio box
does not ungrey the Remove button.

When you first view the Edit box ie is selected by default, but you have to
manually select by clicking one of the other selections of browsers you have
added to ungrey the Remove button.

Why do you want to remove them? As the other's said unistalling the browsers
should remove them anyway.
