I bought windows XP home edition to replace millennium, Now I cannot view PDF files through adobe any more. I got a messeage " This version of ATM will run only on Windows 95." I tried to remove all adobe program. I cannot remove adobe type manager. The other adobe programs were removed no problem. I want load adobe that will work with XP. I have some email files I could read before the update but not now.
First Adobe Acrobat and ATM are two different programs.
Acrobat is for reading PDF files
ATM is Adobe TypeManager and is the program that handles fonts. The
Win95 version of ATM will NOT work in WinXP. And this means that your
PostScript fonts will not display correctly in any WinXP application.
You need to upgrade to the XP-compliant version of ATM in order to use
the PostScript fonts installed on your computer.
If you do not want to upgrade, there is still a way to read your
e-mails. Open the e-mail, hightlight all the text, then change the
font to one of the Windows standard fonts like Arial or Times New
Roman.
