Removing 64 Bit Dual Boot Partition - How?

D

Dan Ulrich

Need some advice:

I have XP Pro, Vista32 Bit Ultimate & 64Bit Ultimate installed on 3 seperate
partitions on my hard drive. When I bought it I wanted to see which Vista
I'd use, and was not sure, so I installed both initially.

I really am satisfied with the 32 bit now, but do not want to screw up my
boot up to either XP or Vista.

Can I just delete my 64 Bit partition safely, and have no issues?

Disk 0 - Basic 500GB

XP 60Gb
Vista32 75Gb
Vista64 75Gb
Data 250Gb

I can provide more details if anyone can give me a tip on this...

Thanks

Hi,

Run diskmgmt.msc and check that the x64 volume is not the system volume. If
it isn't, then deleting it is sufficient and you will simply need to alter
your bootloader if it is the default OS. If it is, you will need to change
the active volume first and set the bootloader there before removing the
unwanted installation.

After Ricks advice, you can use msconfig to remove the extra entry in your
boot menu, alternately EasyBCD or VistaBootPro can be downloaded installed
to do it.
