remove winxp profile level encryption

I have Win XP. At some point I chose an option that basically
encrypted all of my usage. How do I remove this functionality so that
I can share all my data. I want to change over to encrypting only a
partular folder, and remove this profile wide default encryption. I
looked throught the ng's but I only found refernces for when a
particular file or folder was encypted. Any assistance would be
greatly appreciated.

did you try to uncheck the box labeled "Encrypt Contents to Secure Data" ?
if so, what happened ?
