Remove tilde from entries

Hello,

I have a long list of names and some of them have tilde's over certain
letters in their names. I need all of those tilde's removed but it doesn't
seem like the Find/Replace is going to work in this instance.

Can anyone help?

Thank you!

I'm so sorry - It's not a tilde. It's the accent mark that's on the tilde
key that is over these spanish names. Can anyone tell me how to remove the
accent over letters?

Thank you!

I don't think that's possible since they are part of a letter, otherwise you
would replace a tilde like this

find what ~~

replace with "whatever"

since tildes are used with wildcards in Excel you need to use 2 tildes in
the find what box

but as I said if they are part of a letter the way accents etc are then I
don't thing they can be replaced

You could do it one accented letter at a time. Display the Find/Replace
dialog bog and select a cell having one or more of the characters you want
to change. Copy one of these characters (highlight the letter in the Formula
bar and press Ctrl+C) into the "Find what" field, type what you want to
replace it with in the "Replace with" field and press the Replace All
button. You will need to do this one accented character at a time, but there
are so few of these type characters that the process is quite quick.

I figured it out, thanks.

I had to insert the character in another cell via the insert / symbol
method. Then I copied that letter and then used it in the "Find" using the
find and replace.
