Remove sound from pps file

B

Bill

How do I remove sound from a pps file? I have no idea
what version of PowerPoint it was created with, but I
only have PowerPoint 2000.

There's plenty of HELP regarding the addition of sound,
but I can't find anything regarding its removal.

Thanks,
Bill

Open the file in powerpoint (file > open) and then look for the speaker icon
and delete it (them) The icon may be off slide so view in 25% so that you can
see this area better.

The sound may be attached to a slide transition in which case it will show
in the sound dropdown in the transition pane (slide show > slide transition)
in this case change the window to "no sound"

Hi Bill,
To remove the sound from your show do as follows,
Open the show for editing.
Click File<save as < change the name and save it as a Web page.
Open the folder where you saved it, ( the show is saved as objects)
select the sound file and click it.
You can choose to delete it or move it to a different folder for further use.
Open the powerpoint and insert the folder back as a show without the sound.
Save it back as pps.

Bill if you use the web page method be sure to work on a copy as it can ause
powerpoint to hang in some circumstances looking for the missing files.

Hi John,
Saving the show under a different name leaves the original untouched
anyway, doesn't it?

Bill,
Yes. If you click File > Save As, and save it under a different name, the
previous file will not be overwrite. Is that what you are referring to?
