Click Start/Run, then typ in "msconfig" minus the quotes. Click ok then hit
the start up tab. There you will see with boxes checked all the applications
you have running at the start. Uncheck what you don't need. You may have to
expeiment a bit and there will be plenty of rebooting!
The first thing to do is always check in the particular programs'
Preferences. Most well-written programs will give you the option of
whether they start with Windows or not.
In the event a program does not behave well and give you the choice, you
can disable it from starting with Windows by using the System
Configuration Utility:
Start>Run>msconfig [enter]
This brings up the System Configuration Utility. Look on the Startup tab
and find the probable culprit. Uncheck the box next to its name, Apply
and OK out. You don't need to restart immediately, but the next time
you do you'll get a dialog saying you've used the Utility. Just tick
the box that says in effect, "don't bother me about this again".
It is called Startup Control Panel. It installs into your Control Panel. I have used it many times. It doesn't contain any adware or spyware. It is just real freeware. (Which is rare nowadays.)
how do i remove programs from start up when i turn my computer on.
