remove previous image

A client using Windows 2000 Pro. opened an e-mail, looked
at the jpg and deleted the mail.
Now when he starts or shuts down his pc the jpg image
appears for about 45 seconds.
I have searched the hard drive and can not find the image.
How do I get rid of this?
 
It's probably a virus of some sort. I would do some searching around on
symantec.com or nai.com
 
Norton Corporate installed. Defs up to date. Real time on.
Scan runs clean. NO VIRUS
