Any drawbacks to removing personal.xls from xlstart, so I don't have
two Excel files running every time I open a file? Thanks!

Steve

The only drawback I can see is that any global macros in your Personal.xls
would not be available to opened files.

Why don't you just Windows>Hide the Personal.xls and save it as such.

It will open "hidden" and your macros will be available. It can't be so big
that lack of resources are a problem.....or is it?

Personal.xls doesn't just exist, it has to be created. This would suggest
it is created for a reason, and should be removed with caution.

Thanks Gord, didn't realize that was an option! :)

Any drawbacks to having it hidden? Just wondering why anyone would
want to leave it there...

Steve -

You leave it there because it contains macros you've written or
recorded. Your personal library, as it were.

But the macros are still available, even with the file hidden?

oh yes, it is the workbook that is hidden to the Excel, its worksheets and
its macros are all still there.

Thanks Bob. Still kinda wondering why anyone would choose to leave
personal.xls unhidden, just seems to make it more complicated having
two windows open all the time...
