Remove Language

Hi -
We have moved several hundred files from an old apple computer to a
microsoft xp computer running office 2003. When I go into a file that was
converted, it is defaulting the language to 'French.' Using 'Tools -->
Language --> Set Language' I change the Default langauage to 'English (US).'
However, if I open another document that was converted it automatically
reverts back to 'French.' Can I permanately remove all other languages so
this does not happen again? It is causing problems with the spell check,
inserting of auto text, etc.
