I recently installed Copernic Desktop search and then uninstalled it, but its
entry is still listed as an item on the Taskbar > toolbars list. I'm not
concerned specifically with removing THAT entry but there are others on the
list that I'd like to remove, since I have no intention of using them (Links
and WMP, for exmample). how do I control what's on this list? I did a
registry search for "copernic" and came up with nothing poitning to the
taskbar.

Download my program deskbands.exe from the following URL.

http://windowsxp.mvps.org/deskbands.exe

Save it to the Desktop, and double-click to run the program. The program
makes no changes to your system, but generates the list of Toolbars added to
the Taskbar, and logs the info to a text file. Copy the text and paste it in
your reply.

Thank you for the reply. here is the list:

will you be able to tell me how to delete any items I'd like, or will you

These two GUIDs are related to Copernic Desktop Search.

{92A40B0A-740A-4A11-9DDB-70460C6DA383}
{9C3FCA1F-99E3-48F2-A7F4-DD3931B2F99A}

Here is how you remove the entry from the Taskbar Toolbars list.

Open Regedit.exe and navigate to:

HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\{92A40B0A-740A-4A11-9DDB-70460C6DA383}

Backup the key by exporting it to a REG file.
Then, select "{92A40B0A-740A-4A11-9DDB-70460C6DA383}" and delete it.

Similarly, navigate to this location:

HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\{9C3FCA1F-99E3-48F2-A7F4-DD3931B2F99A}

Delete the "{9C3FCA1F-99E3-48F2-A7F4-DD3931B2F99A}" branch.

Close Regedit.exe

You can remove any additional (third-party) toolbars in the same way as
above. Only the GUID string will vary.
