Remove Favorite Folders item from Outlook 2003

I know there's a technote stating that it can't be
removed, but is there any third party 'hack' that can
remove it?

I've been searching for such a 'hack' for a while now
without any luck.

Anybody know why Microsoft chose not let us turn it off?
