A co-worker cleaned up a presentation of mine and
included embedded fonts. He no longer works here and
when i open the file, it says I can't modify the
presentation due to embedded fonts. I have tried the
solution offered in one of the support documents that
contain teh exact error message I receive (should ahve
written the article number down), but it does not work.
Can anyone help me take back ownership of my
presentation???

If the co-worker was using an older version of PowerPoint and you are using
PowerPoint 2003, this is a new security constraint introduced in PowerPoint
2003. The only way that I know of for regaining full access to the file is
to open it in PowerPoint 2002 (preferably) and replace the fonts with
standard fonts (Arial, Times Roman, etc.) and then save the presentation to
a new file name. Then you should be able to open the newly named
presentation successfully in PowerPoint 2003.

You're using PowerPoint 2003, then? It's the only one with this nasty habit.

If possible, open the presentation in 2002 or 2000, then choose Format, Replace
Fonts. The embedded font will be listed in the upper list box with a nearly
illegible little icon rather than the more usual TT one. Pick it, then pick a
replacement font from the lower list box.

Repeat for each embedded font then save the file.

OR

Put a copy of the embedded font on the PC where you're running PowerPoint 2003.
As long as the font's installed, PowerPoint should let you edit the file (and
substitute a different font)
