Remove Deleted Items from Inbox

For some reason about 5 emails disappeared from my inbox today. So I looked
online and discovered numerous people suggesting to go into my Custom View
and "Clear All" on the filter, in an effort to replace the mails.

Not only did that not work (my emails are still missing), I can now see all
of my previously deleted emails (strikethroughs) in my inbox and I have no
idea what sort of filter to put back in place to get these out of my inbox.

Any suggestions?

sounds like you are using IMAP. Look on the view menu for the hide delete
messages view. Or go to edit, purge to delete them forever.
